Vice President of the United States, JD Vance met with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, to discuss together peace, religious freedom and migration.
The Vice President and his family participated in the Passion Liturgy at the Vatican Good Friday, in Saint Peter's Basilica.
On Holy Saturday, April 19th in the morning, the Vice President of the United States of America, JD Vance, was received at the Secretariat of State by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, accompanied by His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, the Holy See Press Office said in a statement.

Vance wrote on X: I’m grateful every day for this job, but particularly today where my official duties have brought me to Rome on Good Friday. I had a great meeting with Prime Minister Meloni and her team, and will head to church soon with my family in this beautiful city. I wish all Christians all over the world, but particularly those back home in the US, a blessed Good Friday. He died so that we might live.
"During the cordial talks," the statement noted, "satisfaction was expressed for the good existing bilateral relations between the Holy See and the United States of America, and the common commitment to protect the right to freedom of religion and conscience was reiterated."
"There was an exchange of opinions on the international situation," it read, "especially regarding countries affected by war, political tensions and difficult humanitarian situations, with particular attention to migrants, refugees, and prisoners."
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
Concluding, hope was expressed for peaceful collaboration between the State and the Catholic Church in the United States, whose valuable service to the most vulnerable people was noted.
The Vice President of the United States is on an international tour which has brought him to Italy, where he also met with its Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and see him trave to India.
