Wow LISTEN as a Family Sings Regina Caeli - Queen of Heaven Rejoice - after Losing Home to California Fires!
Jackie and Peter Halpin, their six adult children (some with spouses) sang the Marian hymn Regina Caeli on the ruins of their house. In the background you can see that the sky is lit orange by the fires that are still burning. The video of this, which was taken by chance, has now gone viral because a friend of the family posted it on Facebook.
Their statue of the Virgin Our Lady of Guadalupe miraculously remained unharmed.
The Halpin family went to see what was left of their house on Thursday morning. All they found was the foundation and rubble, as well as the concrete statues of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Joseph. The practicing Catholic family said a prayer near the statue of the Virgin Mary, a prayer of consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Then someone suggested singing another song. The father started singing the Regina Caeli. The family spontaneously sang in harmony, as they are very musically trained and sometimes even perform as a family band.
The Latin lyrics of the song are:
Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia;
Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia,
Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia:
Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia.
In German translation:
Rejoice, Queen of Heaven, Hallelujah.
Whom you were worthy to bear, Hallelujah,
is risen, as he said, Hallelujah.
Pray to God for us, Hallelujah.
