Pope Francis Will Give Monthly Bonus to Vatican State Employees with 3 or More Children




Pope Francis has decided that Vatican City State employees with three or more children will receive monthly bonus of €300 (about $309) until the child is 18.  If at that age the child continues education, until age 24. Also paid leave for new fathers, natural or adoptive, goes from 3 days to 5 days.
This was announced in a January 15 press release from the Vatican Governorate explaining that the child bonus the pope’s “personal initiative” and said that the pope“ supports large families and offers them financial assistance.”
In 2024, the Vatican announced future opening of a daycare center for employees’ children ages 3 months to 3 years old. In 2020, the Vatican began a summer camp for the children of its staff. Children ages 5–13 can attend the day camp, for several weeks in July and with a new sports facility and swimming pool.
