Another priest kidnapped in Imo State, southern Nigeria
Another priest has been kidnapped in Nigeria. Fr Emmanuel Azubuike (pictured) a priest, who works in the parish of St. Theresa, Obollo, Isiala Mbano, in the southern state of Imo, was kidnapped on November 5 while he was returning to his parish. According to the Diocese of Okigwe, Fr Azubuike was ordained a priest on September 27, 2014.
The rector of the Minor Seminary, Fr. Thomas Oyode, who gave his life in place of 2 seminarians, has been released safely from his kidnappers’. He was kidnapped 11 days ago by Islamic extremists group, Agenegabode, in the State of Edo, in southern Nigeria, Fr Thomas Oyode, kidnapped on October 27, is free and is in good health. This was reported by sources from the diocese of Auchi. "Currently, Father Thomas is in hospital for examinations under observation," they confirm. Father Thomas had offered himself as a hostage in exchange for two seminarians who had initially been captured by the kidnappers who had attacked the seminary. By a happy coincidence, Father Thomas Oyode celebrates his 9th anniversary as a priest on November 7th.
