Pope Francis left Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste, bound for Singapore, the last stop, after Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, of his 45th apostolic journey. After the meeting with young people, the Pontiff was sent of by the President of the Republic José Ramos-Horta with a brief conversation and, before boarding, he bade farewell to the local entourage, the Timorese delegation and was the last to board.

The papal plane took off from Dili International Airport at 12:25 local time (5:25 in Rome) and took him to the Asian city-state in about four hours. It is the fourth country visited by the Pontiff after Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste in this 45th apostolic journey, the longest of the Pontificate.

The Aero Dili A320 took off at 12:25 local time (5:25 am) and landed at Singapore Changi Airport in about four hours. After the welcoming ceremony, Francis moved to the St. Francis Xavier Retreat Center, where he will reside for the duration of the trip and today, September 11, he met privately with the Jesuits of the country. Francis will remain in Singapore until September 13, when he will return to the Vatican. The motto of this last stop is “Unity and Hope”.
