Wow Pope Francis' Mass in Belgium at a Football Stadium for a Sept. Beatification Mass Sells Out in 90 Minutes!

This Monday, August 19, at 10 a.m., registrations opened to attend Pope Francis' mass at the King Baudouin Stadium. A Eucharistic celebration that will bring together 35,000 people on Sunday, September 29.
At the Mass, Pope Francis will beatify Carmelite Sister Ana de Jesús, a spiritual daughter of St. Teresa of Ávila and a friend to St. John of the Cross. She was born as Ana de Lobera y Torres, and the religious sister helped expand the Discalced Carmelites to France and Belgium in the 17th century.
So, this morning, thousands rushed to Ticketmaster to book tickets for free. There were so many people connected at the same time that some were faced with waiting lists. A dynamic that is usually found when selling tickets for renowned festivals or concerts by international stars.
Pope Francis will visit from September 26–29 three cities in Belgium to remember the 600th anniversary of the Catholic universities of Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve . He will also make a short stop in the tiny European country of Luxembourg on September 26th.
Belgium is a constitutional monarchy, thus they have a King, Philippe and Queen Mathilde, but also a Prime Minister named Alexander De Croo.
"All the individual tickets were sold out within an hour and a half," informs us Geert De Kerpel, communications officer for the Pope's visit to Belgium. "The national committee is delighted with the great interest generated and the smooth technical running of the operation."
On the Ticketmaster platform, it is no longer possible to book a single ticket at the moment: the entire stadium is grayed out!
Geert De Kerpel points out, however, that parishes and church movements can continue to register groups .
In addition, places are still available for participants in the Hope Happening youth festival (young people aged 12 to 30). The same applies to people with reduced mobility.
In the afternoon, Tommy Scholtes, French-speaking spokesperson for the Episcopal Conference, told Belga that "the organisers of the celebration will do everything possible to offer new places to people who have not had time to reserve a ticket". A case to follow on that front.
For priests wishing to concelebrate, as well as deacons, a request by email must be sent from August 19 to the address info@visitedupape.be. In response, they will receive the link to register on the site.
Practical information for the day of the event:
The stadium will be open from 6am on Sunday 29th September and all persons must be in their numbered seats by 8.30am at the latest.  The mass will end at 12pm.
The “Catholic Church in Belgium 2023” report indicated that 50% of Belgium’s nearly 12 million population identified as Catholic in 2022, down from 53% in 2017, with 8.9% attending Mass at least once per month.
