Christians Live in Fear after Bangladesh's Protests Leave Over 600 Killed and Floods Leave Over 1 Million Desperate

Minorities and ingenious and Christians communities are in a danger zone in Bangladesh, Asia.
In addition to the aftermath of violent protests, the flood situation in southeastern Bangladesh has deteriorated due to continuous rainfall and rising levels of rivers, leaving over 1.5 million people stranded.
Since July 2024, a political crisis involving student protests has left over 600 people dead. A Nobel laureate was chosen by the students as chief adviser of Bangladesh's new interim government. Muhammad Yunus, an 84-year-old Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist, returned from Europe this month after he was picked by President Mohammed Shahabuddin to lead an interim government, fulfilling a key demand of the student protest leaders.
Bangladesh's former leader Sheikh Hasina, age 76, fled the country on August 5th by helicopter after 15 years in power, brought down by antigovernment protests.

Recent floods have also exacerbated a dangerous situation, according to Reliefweb International, the country is still dealing with the aftermath of Cyclone Remal , which made landfall on May 26, 2024, impacted 4.6 million people across eight districts, resulting in 18 deaths and leaving 1.3 million in urgent need of assistance. in addition, floods in the northeast regions that begun from the 30th of May, have affected 3.74 million people, further endangering the well-being of millions, especially women and children.

This has only worsened the situation for minorities communities, indigenous and Christians communities in Bangladesh. Fundamentalist groups targeted many denominations churches and minorities, including indigenous communities' houses. Christians houses were burned and destroyed
around the Bangladesh by Islamic fundamentalist political groups . One church in Modonpur, Kachpur, Narayanganj parish, was attacked.
Now all minorities’ communities and indigenous Christians are living in fear due to the political crisis in Bangladesh.
On August 6, 2024, a centre was vandalized and desecrated by an unknown assailant. The
centre was used to use for workers in caring their spiritual needs and
humanitarian needs, irrespective of religions, by companions of world known
figure Mother Teresa, Oblates, Holy Cross Fathers, and consecrated
personnel.
May Mother Mary touch the hearts of those who carried out this act and
the Loving Almighty Creator unleash His Judgement. So, they may become true
human and religious persons.
