Vatican's Statement on Attack of Former US President Donald Trump "united in the prayer of the US bishops for America, for the victims, and for peace in the country"
Following the attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump the Vatican issued a statement of prayer and concern. They joined leaders globally and bishops of the US to offer their prayers for Trump. President Joe Biden, Trump’s opponent in the upcoming election, spoke with his rival after the attack, and later wrote on social media site X, “I’m grateful to hear that [Trump is] safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.” He added, “There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”
Holy See's Statement as reported by Vatican News:
In a statement issued late Sunday morning, the Holy See expressed its "concern about last night's episode of violence, which wounds people and democracy, causing suffering and death."
The statement went on to say that the Holy See is "united in the prayer of the US bishops for America, for the victims, and for peace in the country, that the motives of the violent may never prevail."

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed. In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win. I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin. 🙏 DJT
