RIP Corey Comperatore the Devout Christian who Died at the Trump Rally after being Shot and Shielding his Family
At the rally for former U.S. president Donald Trump, Corey Comperatore (age 50) was killed by Thomas Matthew Crooks on July 13th, 2024. He was a devout Christian, attending church every Sunday. A native of Butler, Pennsylvania, Comperatore served as chief of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company. He attended a Trump rally at the Butler Farm Show Grounds, where Crooks fired eight shots into the crowd with an AR-15. Comperatore shielded his family from gunfire, but was struck in the head by a bullet and killed instantly. According to the governor, Comperatore was a former fire chief, the father of two daughters.
"We lost a fellow Pennsylvanian last night: Corey Comperatore," said Shapiro. "Corey was a girl dad. Corey was a firefighter. Corey went to church every Sunday. Corey loved his community. And most especially, Corey loved his family."
Shapiro said he spoke to Comparatore's family and that "Corey died a hero."
"Corey dove on his family to protect them last night at this rally," he said. "Corey was the very best of us. May his memory be a blessing."
