Pope Francis has made two episcopal appointments, thus making them bishops, for the secretary for the Disciplinary Section of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith and the Under-Secretary of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith:

Episcopal Appointment of the Under-Secretary of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith
The Holy Father has appointed as Titular Bishop of Utica the Most Reverend Monsignor Philippe Curbelié, Under-Secretary of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, conferring upon him the personal title of Archbishop.
Curriculum vitae of Msgr. John Joseph Kennedy
Msgr. John Joseph Kennedy was born in Dublin, Ireland, on 15 July 1968. He was ordained a priest on 13 July
1993 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Dublin. He was awarded a licentiate and a doctorate in canon law at
the Pontifical Gregorian University. He has held a number of offices in Ireland, including deputy parish priest of
Saint Agnes’ Church, and then Saint Nicholas of Myra in Dublin. Since 2003 he has been an official of the
Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and since 2017, office head of the Disciplinary Section of the same
Dicastery.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Curbelié was born on 13 August 1968 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, and was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Toulouse on 30 April 1995. At the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome he was awarded a licentiate in philosophy and a doctorate in dogmatic theology. In his archdiocese he has held the following offices: parish vicar, spiritual director of the Séminaire Universitaire Pie XI and the Séminaire Saint Cyprien, professor of dogmatic theology at the Institut Catholique, where he was also dean of the Faculty of Theology. He was formerly a member of the Governing Council of the Holy See Agency for the Evaluation and Promotion of Quality in Ecclesiastical Universities and Faculties. Since September 2012 he has served as an official of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, where he has been office head since 2014.
