FULL TEXT - MESSAGE ON THE OCCASION OF THE ELECTION DAY OF JUNE 2, 2024
Mexico has a future and a mission.

All people are called by God to freedom and justice, to joy and to peace. Homily at the Azteca Stadium, January 25, 1979-Saint John Paul IⅡ
The Conference of the Mexican Episcopate that brings together all the Catholic bishops of our country expresses a message of congratulations on the occasion of the celebration of the clerical day this Sunday, June 2 of the present.
1. Our congratulations to the People of Mexico who, by exercising their civil and political rights, came out to vote copiously, to strengthen democracy and elect, by majority vote, those who will occupy the thousands of public positions that were in contention. It has been a great citizen celebration, despite the obstacles and problems that arose during the electoral process, especially due to criminal violence and interference with legality by some authorities. We must feel satisfied with the duty fulfilled and with a commitment ahead to care for and improve our democratic institutions.
2. We respectfully congratulate Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo for her victory in the polls, which makes her virtual president-elect of the United Mexican States for the period 2024-2030. In addition to highlighting the privilege of being the first woman to reach the most high magistracy of the country, we raise our prayers so that, with the responsibility and wisdom that the position demands, and always seeking the common good, it can lead Mexico towards better horizons where the Republic is strengthened, the rule of law is fully lived, democracy allows The political transition without violence, the development and justice of the entire nation is achieved more effectively and, above all, we begin a period of social reconciliation in the entire country. We sincerely hope that dialogue with everyone will be privileged.
3. With this election day, the Mexican people have given an admirable testimony of democratic participation and maturity. As pastors, it fills us with hope to see how citizens embrace the values of the common good. May this spirit continue to encourage and inspire us in the construction of a future brighter for our beloved homeland.
4. We remind all the winners of this electoral contest that, when they assume their positions, they will assume them for everyone: they will have to govern for all Mexicans, they will have voted for or not by them. May the common good be the star that guides the exercise of government of everyone who was elected by popular vote.
We entrust our nation to the loving protection of Saint Mary of Guadalupe, Mother of all Mexicans. She, who has always walked with us, showing us the ways of Jesus Christ and the Gospel so that we may be artisans of peace, grant us wisdom, serenity and the strength to accept the results of this civic celebration, and to work together, government and society, in the construction of a Mexico where we all recognize each other as brothers, beloved children of the same Father, and together we forge the promising destiny of our great nation.
As a Catholic Church, we reaffirm our commitment to continue collaborating, together with all men and women of good will, in the exciting task of building peace and seeking the integral development of our society.
