FULL TEXT Message of the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church:
“I congratulate you all on the feast of Christ’s victory,” Head of the UGCC in his Easter greetingThe Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, congratulated all the faithful and people of good will on the bright feast of the Resurrection of Christ.
In his Easter greeting, His Beatitude Sviatoslav affirmed that the Risen Savior reveals the mystery of human earthly suffering and the way, even the meaning of human death, since we see that life after death indeed exists.
“Today we feel that Ukraine is undergoing its crucifixion on the cross together with Christ. The Savior Himself suffers in the body of the Ukrainian people. This gives meaning to our suffering and serves as a source of our resilience and vitality to win. Indeed, today Christ even dies in the bodies of our soldiers on the battlefield. He is the one being tortured in Russian captivity, mocked, and once again spat upon by all those who deny the dignity of man in the modern world.”
The Head of the UGCC assured that Christ suffered so that He could rise again. His Beatitude Sviatoslav congratulated everyone on the feast of Christ’s victory, in which we are partakers, and called for rejoicing in it.
“May our Resurrected Lord, who passed through the locked door to his disciples, pass through the walls behind which our prisoners of war are really suffering today. Let Him pass through the barbed wire of all the detentions of our brothers in the occupied territories. May He pass through the locked doors of our fear and open us new prospects for a better future,” the Father and Head of the UGCC wished.
“May the Resurrected Christ come to every Ukrainian home, regardless of where you are: in Ukraine or far abroad, in settlements, whether on the free territory of our homeland or on the occupied land. May the Risen Christ bring you His joy. I wish you all a happy Easter holiday, a delicious Easter egg, and strong faith in Ukraine’s victory on this holiday. Christ is risen! He is truly risen!” added the spiritual leader of Ukrainians.
