Catholic Bishops of Poland Call for a Pro-Life Day of Prayer in Defense of Unborn on Sunday following Proposed Legislation

"Referring to the Position published yesterday on respect for human life in the prenatal phase and in connection with the ongoing debate on Polish legislation limiting the right to life of unborn children," the President of the Episcopate encouraged "to make this Sunday a day of special prayer in defense of conceived life. I ask you to pray for this intention in all churches in Poland, at every Holy Mass.

APPEAL BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE POLISH EPISCOPAL CONFERENCE
FOR PRAYER FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE LIFE OF UNBORN PERSONS

Life is a gift from God and as such is an inalienable right of every human being, therefore it must be protected and supported at every stage of its development. Respect for life, which is one of the most important values, is one of the basic duties of every human being.

Millions of people around the world make constant efforts to protect human life, especially the most defenseless, conceived and unborn, and to show everyone its beauty and value. Also in our homeland, numerous initiatives are being taken to defend it, such as the National March of Life planned for next Sunday. It will be a manifestation of respect for conceived life, accepting this life in love and an expression of appreciation for the effort of parenthood, providing children with the opportunity to grow and develop.

With reference to the Position on respect for human life in the prenatal phase published yesterday and in connection with the ongoing debate on Polish legislation limiting the right to life of unborn children, I strongly encourage you to make this Sunday a day of special prayer in defense of conceived life. I am asking you to pray for this intention in all churches in Poland, at every Holy Mass.

I trust that the efforts of millions of people of good will will result in even greater protection of the lives of unborn people.
