A cargo ship lost power and rammed into a major bridge in Baltimore early Tuesday. The impact of the March 26th crash into the Francis Scott Key Bridge, caused it to collapse. The bridge collapsed about 1:30 a.m. after the 900-foot container ship collided with one of its major support pilings. According to state and U.S.

Coast Guard officials, a search-and-rescue mission was underway for an unknown number of survivors. Six people are still unaccounted for after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The U.S. Coast Guard said multiple crews and boats are searching for survivors. The Singapore-flagged vessel, the Dali, which was on its way to Sri Lanka.
Archbishop William Lori, of Baltimore, held Mass Tuesday, March, 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Cathedral of Mary Our Queen to pray for the people impacted by the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The Archdiocese of Baltimore extends pastoral care to all communities affected by the tragedy including through the Apostleship of the Sea, a Catholic ministry for seafarers.
“I am saddened, as you are, to learn of the tragic incident overnight that led to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge over the Baltimore harbor. Pray with me for all involved, especially the victims traveling over the span at the time of impact, the construction crews on site and all of the first responders acting with urgency to rescue survivors.
