Tens of thousands to rallied at the 20th Annual Walk for Life West Coast on Jan. 20, 2024 in San Francisco, California, USA. A former girl band singer wass among the stellar lineup of speakers who will headline
the 20th Annual Walk for Life West Coast this year as prolife women, men, and children once again rallied and walked for
life in San Francisco on Saturday, Jan. 20.
More than 32,000 children have been saved from abortion since the Dobbs decision in 2022, said speaker Lila Rose.
Kaya Jones, a former girl band singer with the Pussycat Dolls, recounted some of her history of musical success marred by three abortions and her discovery of the healing power of Jesus Christ. Healing is possible, she said, “Repent, forgive, love.” Jones urged the crowd to pray with her for the pro-abortion protestors whose chants across the plaza punctuated the prolife speakers’ talks. “Pray for the people who are there. Lord I ask you right now … that you would show them that life is the only way.”
Before the crowd departed to walk along Market Street, Rev. Clenard Childress Jr. who spoke at the first Walk in 2005, and nearly every one after that, told those present that God is with them. “No matter how depressing things get … give God a praise every day.”
“Twenty years ago, we didn’t know what to expect,” said Eva Muntean, co-chair and one of the founders of the Walk for Life West Coast. “We were overwhelmed with joy by the turnout that first year, which was just a few thousand compared to the tens of thousands who walk now. The first Walk San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris and the entire Board of Supervisors held a counter rally—which was poorly attended, I might add!” The Walk has only grown in size, filling Civic Center Plaza, and extending for more than a mile of wall-to-wall people who walk down Market Street, Muntean noted.
“Life is the answer,” Muntean said, “and although California has become even more pro-abortion under the law
since Roe v. Wade was overturned, we know life and love will triumph in the end. We continue to witness to life as
we peacefully work to change hearts and minds of those who have been seduced by the lies of the abortion
industry.”
The Walk’s speakers this year included:
• Lila Rose, president and founder of Live Action, a human rights nonprofit with the largest digital footprint for the global pro-life movement. Rose’s ground-breaking investigative reporting on the abortion industry has been featured in most major news outlets. Rose was named among National Journal’s “25 Most Influential Washington Women Under 35,” and Christianity Today’s “33 under Thirty-Three.”
• Kaya Jones, a singer, songwriter, and producer. A former member of the group Pussycat Dolls, Jones has recently started talking about her abortions and is on a mission to help other women and men heal, and to help young women who become pregnant to choose life.
• Kimberly Henkel, founder and executive director of Springs of Love, a ministry equip Catholics to discern and live out the call to foster and adopt, and co-founder of Springs in the Desert, dedicated to accompanying those struggling with infertility and loss.
• Rev. Clenard Childress Jr. has spoken at almost every Walk West for Life Coast since its founding. A life-long resident of Montclair, New Jersey, and pastor of New Calvary Baptist Church he is a tireless advocate for the Right to Life for all Americans, with a special emphasis on eliminating the scourge of abortion from the African American community. The founder of BlackGenocide.org, he was profiled in PBS’s Frontline documentary “Anti-Abortion Crusaders inside the African American Abortion Battle.”
