Police Arrest Suspect after Vandalism and Assault at Boston Cathedral of the Holy Cross



Police  made an arrest following the Boston Cathedral Vandalism and assault of a parishioner. The Catholic Cathedral of Boston released on their Facebook page: “We appreciate the swift action by the Boston Police Department in apprehending a suspect. Whatever motivated this person to damage the crucifix, we know it can be repaired and continue to be a source of prayer and hope for the faithful and all those who find comfort in the Lord. We ask that people pray for the individual and for peace in his heart.”
We know, O Lord, that You call us to build Your kingdom here on earth through love and care of those around us who are most vulnerable and most in need. Today, I lift up my friend, who is weary, suffering and in need of strength. Give them the power to live today in courage and hope. Bolster them with Your loving presence. FULL TEXT Police Press Release: Officers Make An Arrest Following Cathedral Vandalism In The South End
At approximately 6:14pm Officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) arrested Michael Patzelt, 37, of Attleboro for a Vandalism incident that occurred in the South End.
Officers received a call for a suspicious person after the suspect had knocked off a female victims headwear. The suspect then proceeded to climb up the cross where he began to swing and hang from it, breaking off several parts of the cross. The suspect broke both the statues arms prior to officers responding and placed him under arrest.

Patzelt was placed under arrest and charged with: Assault & Malicious destruction of property. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
