#BreakingNews Vatican Negotiates Release of 12 Priests from Prison in Nicaragua who will Reside in Rome
The director of the Holy See Press Office confirms that the Holy See has been asked to take in 12 recently released priests from Nicaragua, who will reside in facilities of the Diocese of Rome.
"I can confirm that the Holy See has been asked to receive 12 priests from Nicaragua who were recently released from prison. The Holy See has accepted."
The director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, offered that response to questions put to him by journalists.
"They will be welcomed by an official of the Secretariat of State in the afternoon," continued Mr. Bruni, "and lodged in several facilities of the Diocese of Rome."
In a press release, the dictatorship reported that after holding "fruitful conversations with the Holy See" they agreed "on an agreement for the transfer to the Vatican of the 12 priests who were prosecuted for different reasons and who have traveled to Rome, Italy, this late".
The released priests, some had been imprisoned for almost 2 years and others for months and days.
Monsignor Rolando Álvarez has refused exile and has demanded his release in Nicaragua .
The priests expelled from Nicaragua and sent to Rome are the following:
Manuel Salvador García Rodríguez , 58 years old, parish priest of the Jesús de Nazareno church, also known as El Calvario, in the municipality of Nandaime, department of Granada, was sentenced in June 2022 to two years in prison and a 200-day fine, for the alleged crime of threatening with a weapon against five people.
José Leonardo Urbina Rodríguez , in September 2022, the regime imposed 30 years in prison for the alleged crimes of sexual abuse and rape of a minor under 14 years of age.
Jaime Iván Montesinos Sauceda , in May 2023, the police reported the arrest of the priest after being accused of being investigated for “acts that undermine the independence, sovereignty and self-determination of the nation.”
Fernando Israel Zamora Silva , who served as chancellor of the Diocese of Siuna and judge of the ecclesiastical court of Nicaragua. He was arrested in July 2023 in Managua.
Osman José Amador Guillén was kidnapped by the police in September 2023.
Also on the list are the priests : Julio Ricardo Norori Jiménez, Cristóbal Reynaldo Gadea Velásquez, Álvaro José Toledo Amador, José Iván Centeno Tercero, Pastor Eugenio Rodríguez Benavidez, Yessner Cipriano Pineda Meneses and Ramón Angulo Reyes.
According to the statement, the delegation will be received by personnel from the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, headed by the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
The Daniel Ortega Regime reported this Wednesday after seven at night that it would send the twelve priests to the Vatican through a two-page statement in which it attempts to explain that the forced displacement of the religious was due to fruitful conversations with the Holy See.
