Attack on the Monastery of the Holy Spirit of the Mountain Friars Minor Release: Last Saturday, Nov. 9th, the convent of Santo Espíritu del Monte , located in Gilet, Valencia, Spain, and belonging to the Province of the Immaculate Conception, suffered a serious attack. An individual, who was later arrested by the Civil Guard, violently attacked five friars who reside in the convent. According to official sources, the aggressor is a consumer of various substances and was under their influence at the time of the events. Sadly, one of our injured brothers, who was taken to hospital in critical condition, died today, Monday, Nov.11, due to head injuries. The Franciscan Province, his family and friends mourn this irreparable loss. Two other friars are currently hospitalized , receiving medical attention for the injuries they suffered during the brutal attack.
