Ever since I was in high school, it's
been pretty common to hear people say
I'm spiritual but not religious or I
talk to God but I don't think I need to
go to church or I believe in God I'm
just not into organized religion.
And I always think would you prefer a
disorganized religion? Because anything
in your life that you care about
you organize. Imagine a bank where they
didn't organize, keeping track of
people's money, no one would use that
bank. Imagine a football team with no
organized practices, or equipment or game
schedule, planning for that team would
get really frustrating. You wouldn't give
your money to a disorganized Bank you
wouldn't want to play for a disorganized
football team.
The last thing you need is
a disorganized plan to get to heaven; every relationship that you care about
you schedule.
Imagine parents never
telling their kids what time they're
picking them up from school or what time
dinner's ready. Imagine a family not
coordinating when they're getting
together for Christmas. Imagine having a
boyfriend or girlfriend, who never took
the time to call and talk to you or took
the time to schedule to hang out with
you or prioritized being with you. That would be a pretty meaningless
relationship. The relationships you don't
plan are the ones you don't care about. Why do we pick a time to go to Mass and
say all these prayers and organize our
religion? Because if a relationship
matters to you, it's worth planning and if important
things should be organized, then the most
important thing should be the most
organized, if your relationship with
Jesus is important to you
then organize.
