2 Priests from Nicaragua who Attended World Youth Day in Lisbon have been Refused Re-Entry by the Nicaraguan Government

This was denounced this Friday by the exiled Nicaraguan researcher Martha Patricia Molina.

The priests are Fr. Tom谩s Sergio Zamora Calder贸n, parish priest of the Nuestro Se帽or de los Milagros church, of the diocese of Le贸n and Chinandega (northwest), and Fr. William Mora, parish priest of the Cristo Rey (Christ the King) church, of the diocese of Siuna (northern Caribbean). Molina, the researcher, is the author of the study entitled 'Nicaragua: A Persecuted Church?' and that it follows up on the situation that the religious live in the Central American country.

Molina explained that the two priests attended the World Youth Day in Lisbon "and upon their return, today, the dictatorship prohibited them from entering Nicaragua."

According to the researcher, the Catholic community of the parish presided over by Zamora Calder贸n "is dismayed by the news, because he was a dynamic priest and very close to his people." More than eighty religious have left Nicaragua

Relations between the Sandinista government of Daniel Ortega and the Church are experiencing moments of great tension, marked by the expulsion and imprisonment of priests, the prohibition of religious activities, and the suspension of their diplomatic relations.

The sociopolitical crisis broke out in this Central American nation in April 2018, including the expulsion of auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Managua, Silvio B谩ez, and nuns. foreigners.
