RIP Friar Pablo Hidalgo - Young Saintly Newly Professed Carmelite Friar, who had a Terminal Illness, Dies on the Eve of Our Lady of Mount Carmel's Feast
He spread the following message:
On July 15th, the eve of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, in the Carmelite Convent of San Andrés de Salamanca, he gave his life to God the Father, RIP Friar Pablo María de la Cruz Alonso Hidalgo, O. Carm
The bishop of Salamanca and Rodrigo, Mons. José Luis Retana wrote of Friar Pablo:
Pablo, with his shaved head, his 21 years, received us with a joy and a peace difficult to describe in a young man of that age, crucified by the illness of several years. His parents with pain mitigated by faith. He was completely in love with Christ and with such great affection for the Church, with such an extraordinary friendship with the young people who visit him, to whom he has to lift their spirits and evangelize them with his simple and extraordinary way of dealing with illness. , protecting the pain of his parents by talking to the doctors himself after the consultations, the love of the Eucharist, peace and even joy in the face of death because he understands that in it the great design for which we are made is fulfilled.
Pablo María gives his life as a gift to Jesus Christ and insists on offering his life for two purposes: for the conversion of young people, so that they know the love of God manifested in Jesus the Eucharist; and for the unity of the Church, so that all movements, ecclesial groups, itineraries, Congregations and religious Orders..., are one, so that the beauty of the Body of Christ shines in the midst of our world and in the Church itself.
I left that house completely moved, seeing the greatness of the work that Christ can do in the life of a boy who surrenders to his friendship without any filter. One more grace with which the Lord removes my lukewarmness in surrender. The life and way of facing Paul's death becomes a prophetic denunciation of our lukewarmness in our option for Christ. I left there with a big hug to all three, full of affection and gratitude. I blessed them, knowing that I was the blessed one, for this great Fiat of this young boy who on Sunday the 25th consecrated himself completely to the Lord in article mortis (in the end I was able to preside over the Eucharist). A death that he offers for the conversion of young people. His life is already giving the proper fruits of a person grasped by Christ.
How great is God and how beautiful is the Church and the Spirit that works in it and in each one of us. Pablo's weak life will bear unsuspected fruits for those of us who are witnessing his surrender.
