The Pope received pilgrims from Poland in a private audience - this was noted by the Vatican on July 17th. Nearly 150 people - families and young people - are participating in a retreat, which began on July 15th in Rome. They were led by the recently appointed Cardinal Archbishop Grzegorz Ryś, Metropolitan of Łódź.
Participants belong to the Light Life Movement (ΦΩΣ ΖΩΗ), i.e. the so-called oases. Community members can be young people, adults or entire families. They experience both year-round Christian formation in their groups in parishes and more intensive retreats, usually gathering people from different parts of the country. The movement was founded by Fr. Franciszek Blachnicki, candidate for the altars, murdered in the late 1980s by the communist Security Services.
