VIDEO of Pope Francis Taking a Phone Call During the General Audience at the Vatican



On May 17, 2023, Pope Francis was handed a cell phone during his Wednesday General Audience.
 

As the audience was nearing its completion and the catechesis was being summarized in English, the pope took the call.

This is not the first time Pope Francis has taken calls during other public appearances. For example, in 2021, he interrupted his audience to answer a call.

The Vatican has not provided information as to why the pope received this urgent call.
