Pope Francis to Preside at "24 hours for the Lord" with World-wide 24-hours of Confession and Adoration of the Eucharist in Catholic Churches

(Vatican City) - "24 hours for the Lord", a Lenten prayer and reconciliation initiative desired by Pope Francis, is back for the 10th edition. Also this year the event will be celebrated in dioceses around the world on the eve of the fourth Sunday of Lent, from Friday 17 to Saturday 18 March. In preparation for the Easter of the Resurrection, the churches will remain open for an entire day, in order to offer the faithful and pilgrims the opportunity to stop at any time in adoration and the opportunity to go to confession.
All dioceses world-wide will participate with at least 1 Church participating. Pope Francis usually begins the event by going to Confession himself.
This year, to better characterize the presence in the parish communities, Pope Francis will preside over "24 hours for the Lord" at 4.30 pm in the parish of Santa Maria delle Grazie al Trionfale (Piazza Santa Maria delle Grazie, 5). During the celebration there will be the possibility, for all the faithful who wish, to receive the sacrament of reconciliation.

The open doors of churches are the symbol of God's merciful love. In preparation for the "24 hours for the Lord", the Dicastery for Evangelization has published a pastoral aid which contains cards for personal prayer and suggestions for the celebration in community. In fact, the proposal is renewed to dioceses and parishes, in Italy and in the world, to celebrate the moment of prayer also in their own community. The subsidy, published by Shalom, can be purchased in paper version in bookstores and online stores. In the English, Spanish and Portuguese versions, the text can be downloaded from the site: FREE Vatican Resource for Parishes to Join the Event: http://www.evangelizatio.va/content/dam/pcpne/pdf/Eventi/24ore2023/24%20HOURS%20FOR%20THE%20LORD%20ENG.PDF
