Catholic Bishops of Brazil Pro-Life Message to Government "The Church...calls for all to unite in the defense and protection of life in all its stages." FULL TEXT

CNBB RELEASES A NOTE IN WHICH IT DISAPPROVES OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S INITIATIVE TO MAKE ABORTION MORE FLEXIBLE
01/18/2023

On the morning of this Wednesday, January 18, the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) released a note in which it expresses its disapproval of any and all initiatives that signal the flexibility of abortion, following the example of the latest measures by the Ministry of Health , contained in Ordinance GM/MS No. 13, published on the last 13th.
The ordinance allowed the repeal of another ordinance that determines the communication of abortion for rape to the police authorities. The CNBB Note asks for clarification from the Federal Government considering that the defense of the unborn child was a commitment assumed in the campaign and also on Brazil's disassociation from the Geneva Consensus.
In the document, the CNBB reiterates that “the hour calls for wisdom and balance for the effective pursuit of peace and reinforces that it is necessary to remember that any attack against life is also an aggression against the Democratic State of Law and constitutes attacks on the dignity and well-being of be social”. LIFE COMES FIRST
Note from the CNBB
“Before you, life and death. Choose life!” (cf. Dt 30,19)

The National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) does not agree and expresses its disapproval of any and all initiatives that signal the flexibility of abortion. Thus, the latest measures, such as Brazil's disassociation from the Geneva Convention and the revocation of the ordinance that determines the communication of abortion due to rape to the police authorities, need to be clarified by the Federal Government, considering that the defense of the unborn child was a commitment assumed in campaign.
The hour calls for wisdom and balance for the effective search for peace. It must be remembered that any attempt against life is also an aggression against the democratic rule of law and constitutes an attack on dignity and social well-being.
The Church, unrelated to any party or ideology, faithful to its Master, calls for all to unite in the defense and protection of life in all its stages – a mission that requires commitment to the poor, pregnant women and their families, especially with the helpless life in gestation.

No, blunt, to abortion!

May we be united in promoting the dignity of every human being.
