For the 1st Time in it's History the European Parliament Installs a Christian Nativity at its Brussels Headquarters

The European Parliament has avoided installing a nativity scene at its
Brussels headquarters, considering it to be "potentially offensive," however
this year it was announced a traditional scene made by Belenes Murcia S.L, the workshop of prestigious Murcian artisan Jestis Grifian, would be installed in parliament for the first time ever on November 30th.
In making its decision, the European Parliament took into account the "great tradition of nativity scene craftsmanship in the Region", which is "valued as a national and international reference for the quality and detail of its pieces".

This historic installation has been endorsed by the President of the European Parliament, the Roberta Metsola (of Malta).
Jestis Grifian is a master nativity scene maker from the Puente Tocinos district of Murcia, Spain.
He founded his family business in 1952, and since then has exhibited his works in the United States, Japan and France. The nativity chosen for the European Parliament is two metres high and recreates a Bethlehem portal which includes the architectural remains of a traditional Murcian Baroque church and the Cathedral of Murcia.
The Spanish delegation of the European People's Party (EPP) inaugurated this Wednesday a nativity scene designed by a group of Murcian artisans inside the European Parliament (EP) to claim the Christian roots of European societies.
The Spanish delegation and its Austrian counterpart from the EPP resumed their tradition by installed a nativity scene portal and a Christmas tree inside the Brussels headquarters of the European Parliament.
"We have recovered the nativity scene in the European Parliament in honor of the values of Christian humanism that founded Europe," the spokesperson for the Spanish delegation of the Popular Group in the European Parliament, Dolors Montserrat, told EFE.
The event, coordinated by MEPs Alexander Bernhuber and Isabel Benjumea, took place in the Parliament's central hall and was attended by members of the organizing parties and musicians, who played folk music.
Christmas carols by Los Campanilleros de Sevilla and the Phyra Student Group (Austria) were interspersed with speeches by the EP Vice President, Othmar Karas, the blessing of Archbishop Ludwig Schwarz .
This act is an example of the initiatives with which the EPP seeks to defend "the European Way of Life" and promote the unification of the continent based on the values of "dignity, freedom and solidarity" that, in its opinion, Christian culture represents.
