A group of Catholic Nuns in Louisiana, USA, with historic origins under the patronage of Our Lady of Mercy, have been training service dogs. They bring these dogs to elementary schools and cause many smiles among the children. Their newest addition is a dog named Gia that they received as a gift. Here is what the Sacred Heart School posted:

Gia had a great time learning and playing at recess, p.e., math class, reading, science, and in pre-k. About their Order:
In 1218, the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy was founded as an international community of priests and brothers, who live a life of prayer and communal fraternity based on the Rule of Saint Augustine and the Constitutions of the Order. From this flows the work of the founder, Saint Peter Nolasco, who in imitation of Jesus the Redeemer, offered even his life for those Christians in need of redemptive love.

The Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, were aggregated to the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy. Our Mother Foundress Maria del Refugio wanted to put our Institute under the patronage of Our Lady of Mercy and share therefore in all the graces and indulgences given to the Order. We are a Religious Institute of Pontifical Right, meaning that we are directly under the authority of the Holy See. This decree of Pontifical Right is given through the Congregation for Religious and Secular Institutes. Constitutions are submitted directly to the Holy See for approval, and other matters of law such as perpetual vows or promises, and dispensations, must be submitted to the Holy See for approval.
Today
More than 430 sisters staff 83 schools, catechetical centers, parish and diocesan ministries in 13 different countries: United States, Mexico, Italy, Spain, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, Guatemala, Honduras, Cuba and Mozambique. As consecrated women, the Sisters extend their Eucharistic Mercedarian spirit of adoration and praise to Jesus in the Eucharist, and filial love and devotion to our Lady of Mercy, Mother of the Redeemer.
