A priest in Mexico suffered an attack, Fr. Felipe Velez Jimenez, of the Diocese of Chilpancingo, Chilapa, was shot wounded in the right cheekbone while driving his vehicle. He was in the municipality of Chilapa, in the State of Guerrero .
The Catholic Conference of the Mexican Episcopate
Mexico City, on July 28th, 2022, issued a statement:
At the Conference of the Mexican Episcopate we lament the attack that
Priest Felipe Vélez Jiménez, priest of the diocese of Chilpancingo —
Chilapa, who was shot in the right cheekbone while driving his
vehicle in the municipality of Chilapa, in the State of Guerrero.
Our brother priest was transferred to the hospital where he is sedated
and out of danger.
We thank the entire team of doctors who treat him and reject these
terrible violent events that we live in Mexico.
We ask God to grant us the Peace that we long for and pray for conversion of criminals who cause so much pain to society.
