In the Church's May 15th bulletin, the pastor Fr. Christopher Plant, wrote, "On a sad note, you may have already heard or seen
that our tabernacle has been stolen. I am certain that
the most precious possession of the Catholic Church,
the Blessed Sacrament, was still in it at the time of
its theft."
Archdiocese Statement:
Katy Resident Arrested on Burglary Charge in Church Tabernacle Theft
MAY 13, 2022
Office of Communications
On May 8, late Sunday night, the tabernacle at St. Bartholomew Church in Katy was stolen. Upon the discovery of the theft on Monday morning, the Katy Police were promptly notified.
Thanks to the Katy Police Department's diligent efforts and skill, a suspect has been apprehended and charged with burglary. It is our understanding the theft was not motivated by last week's release of the draft Supreme Court opinion involving Roe v Wade.
Sadly, the tabernacle has not yet been recovered, though efforts by the Katy police are ongoing. In any case, such a theft beyond material price is immeasurably hurtful to us and speaking theologically, is sacrilegious. If you have any information that can assist the Katy police, please contact Lieutenant Stewart at 281-391-4848.
We offer our profound gratitude to the Katy Police for their hard work in the investigation.
We ask all to continue praying with us for the parish and all those involved in this matter.

Update: things are more complicated. Tabernacle was stolen a second time. Police have the faces and plates of the two sets of thieves. The predict they will have it in custody within 24 hours. Hopefully we will find out what they did with our Lord. Pray. https://t.co/zl6S0UmAbV
