Pro-Life Victory as Governor Stitt of Oklahoma Signs into Law Protection of Unborn from Conception which Archbishop Coakley Praises

On May 26, 2022, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed into law the most protective abortion ban in the USA. The new law will go into effect immediately. This ban protects unborn children from conception when their life begins. The bill would prohibit civil action from being brought against certain individuals, including the woman who had the abortion or sought the procedure. About 4,000 unborn babies are aborted every year in Oklahoma, according to state health statistics. Governor Stitt wrote on Twitter:
"I promised Oklahomans that as governor I would sign every piece of pro-life legislation that came across my desk and I am proud to keep that promise.  From the moment life begins at conception is when we have a responsibility as human beings to do everything we can to protect that baby’s life and the life of the mother.   That is what I believe and that is what the majority of Oklahomans believe. If other states want to pass different laws, that is their right, but in Oklahoma we will always stand up for life."
Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, Archbishop of Oklahoma City, Released a Statement on the Governor signing HB 4327 :
“Building a culture of life in Oklahoma that recognizes the inherent dignity of every person requires the protections afforded by pro-life legislation and a profound change of heart. I encourage Oklahomans to pray for women in crisis pregnancy situations, for their families and loved ones, for families waiting to adopt, for fathers, and for the many pregnancy resource centers serving these brave parents. Thank you to Oklahoma’s legislative leaders and to Gov. Stitt for supporting pro-life measures.”
Last month he signed an earlier pro-life law:
