Catholic Bishops of Russia Appeal to All who Believe in the Power of God to Unite in Prayer, Fasting and Deeds of Love for Peace
The Catholic Bishops of Russia during their assembly ask all the faithful to join in the consecration of Russia with the Pope on March 25th:
The bishops appealed to Catholics and all who believe in the power of God to unite with them in fervent prayer, combined with fasting and deeds of love, for the granting of peace to people in Ukraine, in Russia, and throughout the world. The members of the Conference greeted with joy and gratitude the news that Pope Francis had decided to consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25 at 5 pm Roman time. Bishops ask parishes and communities to timely schedule appropriate prayers for the indicated day, for example, at the end of the celebration of the Eucharist. For this purpose, one can use, in particular, the “prayer for peace” (Trebnik, p. 513). The bishops also call on all Catholics, remembering that “reality is always higher than ideas” (Pope Francis), to strive for mutual understanding and be heralds of the “word of reconciliation” (2 Cor 5, 19-20).
