RIP to 3 Students Killed at High School Shooting in Detroit - Archbishop Offers Prayers and Locals Gather for Holy Mass - VIDEO

Three students were killed on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 and eight others wounded in Oxford High School at the latest site of a school shooting in America. The dead include: Tate Myre, 16; Hana St. Juliana, 14, and Madisyn Baldwin, 17. A 15-year-old sophomore, is in custody, Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe. He was not injured. 

UPDATE: A 4th victim died in hospital Justin Shilling, age 17.

Among the injured, are a 47-year-old teacher with a bullet wound discharged from hospital, while children ages 14 through 17 years old were in conditions ranging from stable to critical, with injuries. One 14-year-old girl was on a ventilator.

St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Orion offered a Mass for healing and peace on November 30, in response to the shooting earlier in the day at nearby Oxford High School. There was also Eucharistic adoration.

Father John Carlin, associate pastor of St. Joseph, was main celebrant of the Mass and offered prayers for those killed and injured, their families, for all those affected, and for an end to such devastating violence in our world.

Archbishop Vigneron has also offered his prayers in response to the shooting.

“I am heartbroken to hear of the horrific tragedy at Oxford High School. On behalf of the clergy, religious, and faithful of the Archdiocese of Detroit, I offer heartfelt prayers for the victims, their families, and all those affected in our community.

“May Our Blessed Mother wrap all those wounded — physically, emotionally, or spiritually — in her loving mantle and offer them consolation in the difficult days ahead.”
