Theme of the Message of the Holy Father Francis for the 56th World Communications Day, 29.09.2021
Listen!
After the Message of 2021, centered on going and seeing, in his new Message for the World Day of 2022, Pope Francis asks the world of communication to relearn to listen.
The pandemic has hit and hurt everyone and everyone needs to be heard and comforted. Listening is also essential for good information. The search for truth begins with listening. And so too is testimony through the means of social communication. Every dialogue, every relationship begins with listening. For this reason, in order to grow, even professionally, as communicators, we need to relearn how to listen a lot.
Jesus himself asks us to pay attention to how we listen ( cf Lk 8:18). To be able to truly listen it takes courage, it takes a free and open heart, without prejudice.
In this time in which the whole Church is invited to listen in order to learn to be a synodal Church, we are all invited to rediscover listening as essential for good communication.

3 And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying: Behold the sower went forth to sow.
4 And whilst he soweth some fell by the way side, and the birds of the air came and ate them up.
5 And other some fell upon stony ground, where they had not much earth: and they sprung up immediately, because they had no deepness of earth.
6 And when the sun was up they were scorched: and because they had not root, they withered away.
7 And others fell among thorns: and the thorns grew up and choked them.
8 And others fell upon good ground: and they brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold.
9 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
