I really don't even know where to begin but I have some big news and it's very humbling.
I am honored to announce that Bishop David Bonnar has accepted me (as well as two other fine young gentlemen) as seminarians to begin studies for the priesthood for the Diocese of Youngstown.
The Catholic Church and the local community have been near and dear to my heart from a young age. I have grown in so many ways and have been SO excited to fulfill so many of my dreams, from being organist at my home parish to being the weekend and fill-in meteorologist at WKBN and WYTV for over two years now.
With the passing of our dear Bishop Murry last year, I felt the call ever more present in my heart to begin talks with Father Kopp, the vocations director. In the months that followed, many in-depth meetings and psychological evaluations were exhausting but necessary steps. I went before the bishop and Diocese Vocations Board on June 10 who unanimously accepted me that afternoon and we made the official announcement to the Mt. Carmel community this weekend.
The outpouring of love and support I have received from my family and friends, from my work and parish communities, and my friends at WKBN means the world to me and be assured of my prayers for you all as I begin these next steps.
I am beyond excited to join the fellow Diocese of Youngstown seminarians at Saint Mary's Seminary in Cleveland beginning in mid-August.
