Pro-Life Victories as Oklahoma and Idaho Governors sign Bills banning abortions after an Unborn Baby Heartbeat is detected
The law could make most abortions illegal in the Republican-led state as many women don’t realize they’re even pregnant before they’re six weeks along. But the law won’t go into effect until a similar law is upheld by a federal appeals court.
It also makes exceptions for medical emergencies and rape and incest if women can provide a police report.
"Idaho is a state that values the most innocent of all lives – the lives of babies," Little said in a statement Tuesday. "We should never relent in our efforts to protect the lives of the preborn. Hundreds and hundreds of babies lose their lives every year in Idaho due to abortion, an absolute tragedy. I appreciate Idaho lawmakers for continuing to protect lives by passing this important legislation, and I am proud to sign the bill into law today."
Supporters of the legislation say they would like it challenged in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and then decided at the U.S. Supreme Court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority.
Under the law, a professional who provides an abortion could face five years in prison and the pregnant woman could sue the professional.
Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Still also signed a bill this week, outlawing abortions after a heartbeat is detected.
I will continue to keep my promise and sign every piece of pro-life legislation that hits my desk.

Gov. Kevin Stitt signed new laws this week, signifying a half-dozen policy wins for Republicans – including a heartbeat abortion ban and making the Sooner State a Second Amendment sanctuary.
Stitt had promised on the campaign trail to sign any pro-life legislation that reached his desk and tweeted Tuesday that he is "proud to be called the most pro-life governor."
"I will continue to keep my promise and sign every piece of pro-life legislation that hits my desk," he wrote.H.B. 2441 is the heartbeat bill, which bans abortions once a fetus has a detectable rhythm. Violating it could result in a murder charge against the doctor.
H.B. 1102 states that doctors who perform abortions that are not "medically necessary" can lose their medical licenses.
H.B. 1904 limits the types of doctors who can legally perform abortions, and S.B. 918 is set to immediately outlaw abortions in Oklahoma if the Supreme Court were ever to overturn the Roe v. Wade precedent.
With the coronavirus vaccine becoming more widely available, he also signed a new law blocking the government from shutting down places of worship. (Edited from LifeNews)
