#BreakingNews Priest Injured during Large Fire at Historic Rectory of St. John's Catholic Church

A Catholic priest  was injured in fire while trying to extinguish flames in church rectory.   According to WCVB, the priest was injured early Monday, December 21, 2020 when the fire went through a church rectory in Townsend, Massachusetts, USA.  

The fire started at 2 a.m. inside the rectory of St. John's Church on School Street.  Father Jeremy St. Martin was taken to a hospital to be treated for burns. Fire officials said he tried to extinguish the flames. He was treated and released. “He heard the smoke detectors going off, came downstairs discovered the fire tried and to put it out with a fire extinguisher,” Townsend Fire Department Chief Mark Boynton said. The fire quickly grew out of control and destroyed the building, which is more than 100 years old. “I’m happy that everyone is OK, but I’m heartbroken for the building and the memories,” Sue Dye said.
