Catholics in Poland celebrated the feast of Corpus Christi on June 20, 2019 as a National Holiday. Hundreds of thousands of faithful processed on the streets of towns and villages across Poland on Thursday as Catholics marked the feast of Corpus Christi.

Some were dressed in traditional folk costumes, with many colours in the traditional processions. This day has been held as a public holiday in Poland. Cardinal Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz (centre) led ceremonies in the capital Warsaw. The feast of Corpus Christi is one of the oldest in the Catholic Church and has been marked since the 13th century. During Poland’s often-turbulent history, especially when the nation was under foreign rule for 123 years until 1918, Corpus Christi processions were strongly patriotic as well as religious.
