Over half a million Peruvians participated in the historic March for Life 2015, on March 21 in Lima, In Peru, the right to life from conception is protected by the Constitution of Peru, the Civil Code, the Code of Children and Adolescents, and the American Convention on Human Rights. March 25 is celebrated in the country’s Day of the Unborn, in the law. The huge demonstration was double last year’s figures, when 250,000 people marched. Congress members Juan José Diaz Dios, Juan Carlos Eguren and Julio Rosas attended. Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani of Lima was the main speaker and announced the official numbers.
“This is the strong generation and the future of the country. We are a Peru that defends life, marriage and the family,” the cardinal said.
Pope Francis also sent a message saying, “bear witness with courage and always proclaim the sanctity of every human being.”
