Over 40 Catholic diocese and organizations are suing the Obama administration for violating religioius freedom of the First Amedment to the Constitution. This initiative is led by Cardinal Dolan. There are 12 separate lawsuits being pursued. These laws suits are opposing the Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate that obliges insurance plans to fund sterilizations and FDA contraceptives, including abortifacients.
Since the Catholic Church teaches that sterilization, artificial contraception and abortion are morally wrong this mandate violates the religious freedom of the Catholics in the USA.
