AMERICA : BOLIVIA : CATHOLIC CHURCH TRIES TO HAVE RELIGIOUS TEACHERS IN SCHOOLS

Agenzia Fides REPORT - The Catholic Church and the State have reached an agreement in Bolivia as far as education is concerned: The government recognizes the educational structure of the Catholic Church, through the delegations of each jurisdiction and educational center of the Church, is what is read in the Bolivian Episcopal Conference statement of which a copy was sent to Fides. The agreement allows the Church to appoint the staff of educational institutions, in order to guarantee the identity of these centers. Similarly, the State recognizes that the Church may appoint religion teachers at the centers of public education where families require a Catholic religious education. The agreement was signed on Monday, November 28th from the Secretary General of the Bolivian Episcopal Conference, His Exc. Mgr. Oscar Aparicio, and, by the State, the Minister of Public Education, Roberto Aguilar. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 01/12/2011)
