ASIA: HONG KONG: MISSIONARY MONTH STARTS WITH CROSS PROCESSION

Agenzia Fides REPORT - The solemn procession of the Missionary Cross of the parishes of the deanery of Central Kowloon opened the Month Missionary, Sunday, October 2, waiting for World Mission Day to be held on October 23. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), more than 200 faithful of the parish of St. Joseph and the parish of Christ the Worker attended the procession in the rain, guided by their parish priests: Fr D. Doimo and Fr. A. Bernnan. Since last May the 7 parishes of the deanery of Central Kowloon in fact began the pilgrimage and procession of the Missionary Cross in the context of the Year of the Laity, extended until 2012 according to the guidance of the diocese. Each parish plays host to the Cross for a month, organizing the worship and pilgrimage of parishioners as a sign of evangelization. The procession began on October 2, from the parish of St. Joseph, which delivered the Cross to the parishioners of the parish of Christ the Worker, and ended with a tribute of flowers to the Cross. In addition, the deanery has scheduled the "Closing of the pilgrimage and the missionary mandate of the Cross" to be held on October 30 in the presence of Mgr. John Tong, Bishop of Hong Kong.
