The King of Spain, Juan Carlos I, was presented with an official backpack for World Youth Day, Madrid, 2011. Cardinal Antonio Maria Rouco Varela had an audience with the King in preparation for the upcoming WYD in August.
The meeting took place on July 12 in the Palace.

The backpack, as in previous WYD’s, will be given to all registered participants. Inside, they will find a Rosary, a Pilgrim's Booklet, a Guidebook to World Youth Day, a YouCat (a catechism especially designed for young adults), a pass allowing them to use the city’s public transportation, a cap, and a fan.
