ALL AFRICA REPORT: Restore Rwanda Ministries, an evangelical church, will construct a secondary school in Mageragere Sector, Nyarugenge District in Kigali City.
Kingdom Education Centre, which is estimated to cost over Rwf 2 billion, will also contain a hospital and a vocational centre.
Speaking at the laying of the foundation stone, yesterday, Local Government Minister James Musoni hailed Restore Rwanda Ministries for the initiative.
"The school is in line with government's vision of providing world class education for Rwandan children".
He called upon the people of Mageragere to use the opportunity and improve their education and enhance their skills.
According to Bishop Joseph Karasanyi, the President of Restore Rwanda Ministries, the school will embody the vision of Restore Rwanda Ministries to educate a new generation through Christ-centred learning, building children with a new hope and a new spirit.
"The main aim of the school is to provide a high quality English speaking secondary school in line with the Rwandan government's goals and aspirations," he said.
'Our commitment to this institution is not simply a matter of creating beautiful and modern facilities, it is also about creating a new national asset for the whole of this country -and for its broad educational community," he noted.
He explained that Equip UK provided curriculum resources and staff training for the school alongside sports coaching and drama workshops.The construction of the school is supported financially by Equip UK, a Christian charity based in the United Kingdom working with church leaders and government organisations to promote opportunity and excellence primarily in education and health.
Paul Johnson, the President of Equip UK, said that the school will help improve education by providing quality education.
"This school will connect its students to global perspectives and also provide employment opportunities to Rwandan teachers," he said.
