AMERICA- USA- RESPECT FOR LIFE PROGRAM

USCCB REPORT- The 2010-11 Respect Life Program is now available in preparation for Respect Life Sunday, October 3. This year’s theme is “The measure of love is to love without measure.”
The Respect Life flyer explores this theme with three vignettes of common situations calling for heroic love – a college student’s unplanned pregnancy, an elderly loved one who needs assistance with feeding, and a baby diagnosed with a life-threatening disability.
Topics addressed in this year’s Respect Life Program reflect the diversity of pro-life concerns:
the death penalty and Divine Mercy
end-of-life care
infertility treatments in line with Church teaching
sexual trafficking
population control
depression and suicide among youth
the promise of pro-life youth
Articles are available as downloadable pamphlets and as bulletin inserts, on the website of the Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities (www.usccb.org/prolife/programs/rlp ). In addition, the site contains downloadable versions of the poster, flyer, liturgy guide, program models, recommended resources, memorable pro-life quotations and artwork, in both English and Spanish.
This year’s liturgy guide offers Intercessions for Life, suggested preaching reflections for Respect Life Sunday and January 22; a Litany for Life; and a Prayer, Enthronement and Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Begun in 1972, the Respect Life Program brings Church teaching on the value and dignity of human life to the Catholic community and the wider public. The program combines education, prayer, service and advocacy. Respect Life Sunday is observed in virtually all of the 195 Catholic dioceses in the United States.
NOTE: The Respect Life Program packets may be ordered from the Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities by calling toll-free (866) 582-0943, or by faxing orders to (301) 779-8596.
